The mother insists her parenting style strengthens her bond with her daughter
Having a close relationship with a parent is something many people cherish.
But while spending quality time together is great, most would probably draw the line at showering side by side.
For one mother and daughter, however, this has been a normal part of their routine.
Reality TV stars Mary and Brittani revealed their unconventional habit on the TLC show sMothered, leaving viewers shocked by their extremely close relationship.
In one scene, filmed in Florida, US, Brittani is seen showering when her mother enters and casually says: “Move over honey.”

The duo claim this unusual practice has only strengthened their bond, with Mary explaining: “I have been taking showers and helping Brittani since she was five.”
The clip shows the mother scrubbing Brittani’s back and massaging shampoo into her hair, something they both seem completely comfortable with.
At one point, Mary even jokes: “You need to tan or something, honey. You’re so white,”
Defending their routine, she added: “I love her, and I don’t see anything wrong with it. I don’t believe I set out to have a relationship this close to Brittani, it’s something that was supposed to be,”
Mary later told the New York Post that this habit started when Brittani began experiencing panic attacks, which they believed might have been triggered by hot water.
She explained: “That’s kind of how I started getting in the shower with her, just to comfort her because she would freak out,” “That grew into an every-other-day thing. When she was smaller, it was every day.”
Brittani also spoke about their daily showers on the show, insisting it provides her with a sense of security.
The pair didn’t see a problem with it.

“When my mom does simple things like washing my hair or my body, it makes me feel comforted,” she shared.
“Plus, I’m only 19, I haven’t moved away. If that was the case, she would probably die from separation anxiety.”
Mary has no issue with their bathing routine, believing it to be a simple way to start their day together.
She added: “I’m just a doting mum! I don’t believe I set out to have a relationship this close to Brittani, it’s something that was supposed to be.”
At the end of the day, everyone has their own way of bonding with family.
But for most people, the idea of sharing a shower with their parent—especially as an adult—might feel a little too close for comfort
