Miley Cyrus recently shared a pretty unexpected story about her dad’s behavior when she was filming Hannah Montana as a young actress.
The bond between Miley and her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, has been under the spotlight a lot lately, especially in recent months.
Things really kicked off after Billy Ray—who is a father of six made headlines for his strange performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration event on January 20.
After that, his adopted son Trace Cyrus posted an emotional open letter online. The message hinted that the family was concerned about the country star known for his hit song “Achy Breaky Heart.”
Trace later said that Billy Ray responded to his post by threatening him with legal action, specifically over the things he shared on Instagram.
Then came a new twist. Fans noticed that Miley’s mom, Tish Cyrus, seemed to have unfollowed her daughter on Instagram, which caused a wave of speculation online.

Many fans quickly assumed that Tish had distanced herself from Miley because the pop star had recently reconnected with her dad, Billy Ray.
Wanting to clear the air, Miley jumped in with a message on her Instagram Story where she said: “I rarely comment on rumors but my mama and I are too tight for anything to ever come between us.”
She added more detail in the same post, explaining: “She’s my best friend. Like a lot of moms, she doesn’t know how to work her phone and somehow unfollowed me – simple, coincidental and uninteresting.”
“My dad and I have had our challenges over the years. Now, in my thirties, family is my priority above all else.”
“I’m at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing. Grateful for the good health and love that flows through my family.”
Following all of that buzz, Miley decided to get real about her dad’s behavior while they were filming Hannah Montana. She brought it up during a chat on her mom’s podcast show.
The 32-year-old singer appeared on the June 19 episode of the Sorry We’re Cyrus podcast, which is hosted by her mom Tish and sister Brandi.
During a fun Q&A segment, her mom fired off quick questions. One of them was: “What’s a core memory from the Hannah Montana days that still makes you laugh?”
Without skipping a beat, Miley gave an eye-opening response: “Dad smoking pot and everyone blaming me for it.”

While Tish laughed at Miley’s reply, Brandi shot her a serious look. Miley followed up by saying: “I do remember that.”
The incident Miley was referring to took place during the filming of the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana, which aired from 2006 to 2011.
She looked back on the moment as something that was honestly pretty funny. But her mom Tish clearly remembered it a bit differently.
Tish went on to explain that, at the time, she had heard rumors that Billy Ray had been smoking pot. But she said she didn’t believe it while they were still married.
She shared her thoughts, saying: “I was saying, ‘Absolutely not, he would never do that.'”
Back then, Tish blamed Miley’s co-star Mitchel Musso—who played Oliver Oken on the show. But according to Miley, it wasn’t just Mitchel. She claimed both her dad and Mitchel were smoking weed.
However, Mitchel Musso responded to the situation in a statement to E! News where he denied the claim.
He said: “Well, that’s not how I remember it. However, I’ve got plenty of stories from those years that might be worth having a conversation about. If we’re revisiting Hannah Montana history – just say the word.”
And added: “All love to Miley and the fam, even when the rewrites get this creative.”
