Singer Says She Got The ‘Husband Stitch’ After Giving Birth, Which Made Sex Impossible For 2 Years

Colombian singer Greeicy has spoken out about her first experience of childbirth to raise awareness of an unethical medical malpractice

Colombian singer Greeicy has shared her personal experience about giving birth to her first child over two years ago. She claims her doctor gave her what she described as ‘some extra stitches’ following the delivery.

Greeicy, whose full name is Greeicy Yeliana Rendón Ceballos, and her partner Mike Bahía first announced they were expecting a baby back in December 2021. The news came through a song collaboration titled ‘Att: Amor’.

The 32-year-old welcomed her child the following year. But now, she’s taken to TikTok to reflect on her natural childbirth experience and shed light on something known as the ‘husband stitch’.

In a video posted on April 1, Greeicy spoke directly to the camera and explained: “Normally when a woman has a natural birth it can be that due to the natural process you might tear. Sometimes they cut you to make the exit easier, sometimes it tears naturally.”

She shared that during the delivery she tore naturally, which is something that can happen during childbirth. Doctors typically stitch up these tears. But Greeicy believes that in her case, a few extra stitches were added, which made things feel uncomfortably tight afterward.

have a surgery to cut it. We never went cause we were too busy but we kept trying and eventually it happened. Like when you try on a shoe a lot and it finally goes in.”

“I realized that they benefited him – because of course, it’s nicer when its tight, for him, but for me? It hurts even more. Not only did I give birth but he got a reward.”

So why is this referred to as the ‘husband stitch’ in the first place?

According to Healthline, here’s how they describe it: “A husband stitch, or daddy stitch, is an extra stitch given during the repair process, known as an episiotomy, following a vaginal birth. The extra stitch supposedly tightens the vagina to increase sexual pleasure for a male partner.”

Sadly, Greeicy’s experience is not an isolated case. Healthline has documented similar stories, including one from a mother named Sarah Harkins who gave birth naturally in 2005. After her delivery, while she was still physically and emotionally overwhelmed, her doctor reportedly turned to her husband and said: “Yeah, let’s go ahead and add in another stitch so we can make sure this is nice and tight.”

Healthline concluded that the so-called ‘husband stitch’ is not only completely unnecessary from a medical standpoint, but also unethical.

It stated: “The husband stitch has a long, complicated, and problematic history, and is now considered medical malpractice.”
