This couple is standing firm in their love, even though they don’t share the same sexual orientation, and they’ve had to respond to cruel online comments about their relationship
Even though she knew her partner identified as gay, one woman decided to marry him because she truly believes they’re meant to be together.
Samantha Greenstone and Josh Hoff tied the knot, and while Josh doesn’t feel sexual attraction toward women, the two still have a healthy sex life.
Their story began nearly a decade ago. They first connected as friends, but it wasn’t long before Samantha started realizing she had deeper feelings.
To her surprise, Josh admitted he felt the same way.
Once they began dating, they opened up about being in a “mixed-orientation” relationship — meaning each of them identifies with a different sexual orientation.
Now living in Los Angeles, the couple officially became husband and wife at a courthouse. They both described the day as “so exciting”.

Samantha looked thrilled as she posted on TikTok just before their big moment: “I’m marrying a gay man. And we’re literally at the courthouse right now. We’ve just obtained our marriage license and it’s so exciting.”
Still, not everyone bought into their love story. Some accused them of being in a “lavender marriage”, a term used in the LGBTQ+ community for marriages that are more about appearances or protection than love.
But the couple pushed back on that idea. Josh told Business Insider: “I’m 100% fulfilled by our marriage. So to say we’re in a ‘lavender marriage,’
“I think, takes away what this really is, which is just people who love each other for who they are and not what they are.
“A lavender marriage feels like a marriage of convenience versus a marriage of just true pure love like ours.”
And when curious viewers asked about their intimacy, Samantha didn’t shy away. She posted another TikTok explaining it all and said:
“We do it the good old-fashioned way. Yep. And if you’re confused what that means, then it’s not our job to teach you the birds and the bees.”
“I know it’s mind-bending to a lot of you to be like, well, he’s gay. How could he be sleeping with a woman?”
Josh also chimed in, saying that to him, Samantha isn’t just any woman—she’s his wife and “my soulmate and my partner”.
Their video, shared on Samantha’s TikTok profile @samanthawynngreenstone, quickly went viral.
It’s been viewed millions of times, with people around the world debating their dynamic.
One confused TikTok user asked: “What is the purpose of this marriage? I don’t understand why? I know from the beginning there is something weird every each video he advertised Samantha account.
“I didn’t see you before a straight husband highly supporting his wife like this.”
Someone else questioned: “Lavender marriage in a country that allows gay marriage and law benefits with that is just…pointless???”
But thankfully, there were also plenty of people rooting for them.
One fan commented: “Congratulations to you both! I hope you will be very happy, you sure look it today. Lavender marriages are my new favourite thing
